Spanish & Portuguese Language & Cultural Training
Learning new languages and getting familiar with other cultures opens up new experiences and possibilities in both, life and work.

Despite S&PLT being a relatively newly established business, we have over 15 years’ experience in teaching adults and specializing in Spanish and Portuguese language and cultural training for businesses.
Either online or in-company, we offer intense courses or more relaxed regular lessons, tailored to your individual needs and preferences. We have a flexible schedule to help you learn at times that suit you.
We believe learning Spanish and Portuguese is one of today's smartest long-term investments for businesses and language learners.
Spanish

According to a new report from the Spanish government, over 572 million people speak Spanish worldwide, of which 477 million people are native speakers, making it second only to Chinese in terms of the most spoken languages in the world. English is just behind Spanish, with approximately
360 million native speakers.

On one hand, two well established global forces, Agentina and Mexico are part of today’s G20 major economies. Another Spanish speaking G20 country is the United States; although English is first language in the country,
approximately 50 million Spanish speakers makes
Spanish the second spoken language in the USA.

On another hand, modest economies like Peru, Colombia and Chile are taking measures to reduce corruption and violence in their countries; and the Mercosur, the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Andean Community of Nations not only bring growth to their own countries, but also to international companies
that help them stabilise and expand.

Portuguese

Portuguese is spoken by approximately 270 million people
across four continents.

The Lusophone (Portuguese-speaking) giant we all know and love is of course Brazil. The country that put the B in the BRIC countries: the group composed by the five major emerging countries - Brazil, Russia, India, China and
South Africa -, which together represent about 42% of the population, 23% of GDP, 30% of the territory
and 18% of the global trade.
Under Brazil’s economic influence, Portuguese is likely to compete with or even displace English as the most important foreign language in South America. It’s the revving engine of the Mercosur trade bloc, whose combined GDP
of $4 trillion US dollars makes it a player of global proportions.
From established power centers like São Paulo, Brasília and Lisbon to fast growing economies like oil-rich Angola in Africa and Macau, a former Portuguese colony in China;
Portuguese speakers do businesses across the globe.
Cultural Training
Etiquette, customs and beliefs vary not only from country to country, they also vary from region to region. Being aware of the cultural differences that exist between you and your international clients is important not only for good relationships and streamlining projects but also,
for avoiding unnecessary problems.

‘’The benefits of being culturally aware are innumerable, and with the global economy, intercultural teams are becoming the norm. At a very basic level, culturally appropriate communication and nonverbal business etiquette are essential to success in running international teams or engaging in negotiations with foreign firms.” Anne Loehr
Cultural training improves work relationships and increases trust by communicating effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds.

Our bespoke training will cover topics such as: how to act appropriately at meetings and negotiations, expected behaviour to close a business deal, etiquette, body language, history, culture and food, as well as an insight into social and daily life.
Training process
Your needs will be analysed in detail in an initial consultation where we will discuss your goals and the most efficient way of working together.
Afterwards, we will create a proposal according to your requirements, detailing: learning objectives and outcomes; course design and delivery; ongoing support and course feedback; review and assessment processes; and full costs.
Courses will be tailored to your business requirements and will include both general and industry specific language.
Our bespoke classes can take place either in-company or online. Lessons are timetabled around your schedules and can be postponed at one full working days’ notice.
At the end of the course, suitable post-course study options will be discussed, such as self-study, workshops or a further period of tuition.
